Homeowners Insurance
Just 60 seconds, that's all it takes.
What is homeowners insurance?
Your home is your safe haven, where you keep your most treasured belongings and make memories with those you love. But if your home were to be damaged or even destroyed in a fire, storm, or other disaster, could you afford to rebuild and replace everything that was lost?
Homeowners insurance is a type of coverage that financially protects you and one of your biggest assets: your home. If your property is lost, damaged, or destroyed by a covered peril, this insurance coverage will step in to replace or rebuild, cover legal expenses, and even pay for temporary lodging until things are back to normal.

WHAT DOES HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE COVER?
Every homeowners policy is different, and Hippo can help you build the exact coverage to fit your needs. In general, though, homeowners insurance policies offer things like:
Additional coverages
In addition to standard homeowners and condo insurance policies, Hippo offers other policy options. Here are some of the additional coverages you can choose from and why they matter.
Earthquake insurance
Most homeowners insurance policies exclude property damages related to ground movement, such as earthquakes. While earthquakes can occur anywhere, you may want to consider adding earthquake insurance coverage if you live in an area near a fault line or that is prone to tremors.
Flood insurance
The typical homeowners insurance policy also excludes damage due to flooding and water intrusion. If you live near a body of water, in a flood plain, or are just worried about flood water damage, buying flood insurance might be the right call.
Wind damage insurance
If you live in an area prone to hurricanes, tornadoes, or other wind-based storms, your homeowners insurance policy will likely exclude or limit damages related to high winds. To better protect your property, you can look into windstorm insurance coverage.
Landlord insurance
If you own a home but don’t live on the property and instead rent it to others, you may need different homeowners insurance coverage. A landlord insurance policy offers you protection for your dwelling, permanent fixtures and appliances, covered structures, and even provides you with liability coverage in most cases. It does not, however, cover your tenants’ personal property.
The covered causes of loss (called perils) allowed may differ by insurance company, policy type, and even your location. It’s important to ask your insurer what is and isn’t covered by your policy, and read your policy documents carefully to understand your coverage.

Super easy to set up our homeowners insurance with Hippo. Switched from another well known insurer after they continued to have significant increases each year. We are saving a good deal of money with Hippo and the coverage is so much better as well. Glad we found Hippo on the internet and checked them out!
